What this site is
Reporting and explanation about skin and skincare, written by one person. It is published in good faith and researched carefully, and it is still general information rather than advice about your particular skin.
Not medical advice
Nothing here diagnoses, treats, or prescribes. I am a reporter, not a clinician, and I cannot see your face. Do not delay seeing a doctor because of something you read here, and do not stop a treatment a doctor gave you on the strength of an article. Anything painful, spreading, bleeding, or changing shape needs a professional who can examine it.
Patch testing and your own risk
Skin varies. Something that suits most people can irritate yours. Anything you try after reading an article here, you try at your own risk, and patch testing a new product before it goes on your whole face is sensible whatever the article said.
Accuracy and change
Research moves and formulations get reworked, so an article that was right when it was written can drift out of date. Each page shows when it was last updated. I correct what I find and note substantive changes on the page, but I do not warrant that every page is current at the moment you read it.
